Many people were reportedly shot and killed by some Nigerian military operatives at the Lekki tollbooth in Lagos during a peaceful national protest against rampant police brutality and bad governance. This happened as youths have been protesting for days around the country.

Today, the Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, calls for the Nigerian government to stop the killings of innocent protesters and secure the people's lives. Similarly, a former presidential candidate during the last elections, Hillary Clinton, has condemned the killings.

Elsewhere, a local television station, TVC, has been reportedly set ablaze. Similarly, several local police stations are on fire, in reaction to the killings by the military.

Throughout today, tweets of support have been pouring in from celebrities all over the world, calling for help for the Nigerian people.

This is a wake-up call for all concerned, as people are hoping for a change all over the African continent. Education reform across the board is long overdue.
